Les Vacances de Toussaint

I taught a grueling 8 days over 3 weeks, and so, of course, it was time for vacation!
Welcome to Strasbourg! The river Ill.

Notre-Dame de Strasbourg

Too big for just 1 photo!

The west door's ornately carved details.

The roofs have the neatest little dormer windows in all sorts of shapes and designs.

The horloge astronomique, an astronomical clock that's pretty amazing!

We climbed to the top and got to see some great detail along the way: like these animal water spouts.

The roofs of Strasbourg, as seen from the top of the cathédrale.

The bowed glass in the window of the Maison Kammerzell, a beautiful, old house that was built in 1589 by a wealthy merchant.

"Typical" Alsacian buildings, as exemplified in the picture-perfect quartier, La Petite France

The cathédrale with the sun on its face

Beautiful buildings

And no trip to Paris is complete without at least one photo of Notre-Dame de Paris

L'Opéra Garnier - it just so happens I'm reading Le Fantôme de l'Opéra right now!

My week finished along the Rhône, in the lovely small city of Vienne

Vienne was a booming city during Gallo-Roman times, and the emperor of Rome had this temple built as a gift for his wife, Livia.

Vienne: town, amphitheater ruins and fortress remains.
