This week, I climbed Notre-Dame for the first time ever. The gargoyles are the best and I want to go back and look at them all, all over again.

In the square in front of the cathedral, they've used different paving stones to mark where the medieval streets were at the time of the construction of the cathedral. This area on the island was for scribes, bookmakers, booksellers and other learned people. The streets crowded right up to the cathedral so upon stepping outside of a house or a shop, it was right there, towering.
