With only 5 days left in France, there are lots of things that need to be done to tie up the loose ends of my last 9 months of life here. I'm working through a veritable laundry list of tasks to accomplish, all while trying to fight heat exhaustion as we're on day 5 of over 30ºC temps (+85ºF). The heat and sun are lovely after so many months of rain and grey this winter, but really, the timing is not the most convenient!
- La Poste: mail 2 boxes home full of books and other heavy objects
- CAF: cancel my housing aide - infinitely easier to cancel the payments than to get them started!
- drop off dry cleaning / pick up dry cleaning
- laundry, laundry, laundry...
- settle things with my bank for the summer
- make sure I can stash my belongings with a friend
- make sure I can stash my bike with my dance teacher
- make sure I can stash my teaching materials with my responsable
- last private English lessons
- make certificates for my students
- gear up for an epic day of Bingo playing and singing with students tomorrow and Friday
- dinner with dance ladies
- drinks with teachers
- pack suitcases...
- clean my apartment
It's quite the list, but some has already been checked off.
And today is June 30th, technically the last day of my contract. It's really hard to imagine that it was 9 months ago that we walked into our first training session, wondering how in the world we were going to survive 9 months teaching 200 kids we knew nothing about... Not that it was always easy, but for the most part, things went smoothly...
