Days in Paris

Last week my special someone came to spend a week in Paris with me. We had lots of fun taking full advantage of the rain-free days and walked around the city: down the Champs with a pit-stop for some ice cream even if it was barely 50 degrees out; traipsing around the 6th and having a decadent tea-room lunch; and many, many rich, delicious French meals.

Pont Neuf with a layer of snow (yet again!)

 spring sprung a bit early...

 le square du Vert-Galant

the Seine and the back of the Louvre

one memorable dessert: candied eggplant and ricotta ice cream

just making sure we'll be back

    1. Kinda weird, actually. The serving was a whole half an eggplant, which, though not immediately sugary on the tongue, got to be sugar-over-load *really* fast. We shared the dessert and I struggled to finish my little quarter. Anyway, the flesh of the eggplant was really soft and smooth and almost creamy? It didn't taste like an eggplant at all, it was just a mild, almost watery sweet flavor. As for the ricotta ice cream, I could have eaten a bowlful of the stuff. It was awesome! The texture wasn't as smooth and blended-creamy as regular ice cream, and the flavor was slightly more plain-yogurt-bitter, but actually not bitter at all, just not sugary-sweet. There were small chunks of candied orange and dark chocolate in it, and maybe something else I'm not remembering. The ice cream was a good foil for the sugary eggplant, but I would absolutely eat the ice cream on its own. A lot. :)
